BALLS

Every work in BALLS is based on the shape of a football. Some artists have cast footballs in concrete, others have created giant ones in bronze, or sculpted new ones out of ceramic or clay, some even used balls that they found lying discarded on the street and twisted them into new sculptures. Each ball here tells a different story: some of these works are about celebrity and obsession, or memory and youth, or anger and bigotry. But in the end, this exhibition is a love letter to the simple, humble football as a ubiquitous cultural symbol, as something that is immediately recognisable and capable of triggering countless thoughts and ideas.
